About Barefoot Clinic
Barefoot
Health Care exists to make acupuncture and natural health care
accessible without the use of insurance companies or government
bureaucracy.
Take acupuncture for example. The
typical U.S. acupuncturist treats each patient in a private room,
charging $60 to $180 per treatment. Few insurance companies cover this
service, and those that do have high premiums, high deductibles, and
limits on their payments. Moreover, many people have no health
insurance of any kind.
Research and thousands of
years of experience indicate that acupuncture works best if applied
frequently –– initially, two times weekly often works best. In Asia, patients generally
receive acupuncture at least three times weekly. Depending on the
condition addressed, a patient might need three to twelve treatments to resolve the pain.
Do the math –– delivered in the usual fashion at typical fees,
effective acupuncture care lies outside the financial reach of many
people.
Not Interested in Needles?
No problem! I do needle-free treatments with cold laser, herbal medicine, and nutritional guidance. In fact, many conditions are best treated with herbs or nutrition instead of needles.
Fees
Barefoot
Clinic offers an affordable fee plan. On your first visit you
pay $15 to set up your file, plus $30 for your acupuncture and
consultation. Established patients pay $30 per treatment--that means
you can get enough acupuncture to change your world.
If you only want herbal medicine or nutritional guidance, we ask for
$1 per minute. Generally an initial herbal medicine consult takes only
about 30 minutes ($30), and a nutritional consultation will take about
30-60 minutes ($30-60).
Insurance
Barefoot
Health Care does not bill insurance. Insurance billing increases
health care costs by diverting money to clerks and insurance
companies. By eliminating that deal, I can keep my fees lower than
most co-payments. If you want to get insurance reimbursement, I can
provide you an appropriate bill that you can submit to your provider.

The Garden of Eating gives you far more than a diet book and more than a
cookbook. It serves as a comprehensive guide to the principles and practice of natural, primal, or paleolithic eating, which includes meat, vegetables, fruits, nuts, and natural fats. It teaches you how to eat to get and stay lean and free of degenerative diseases, just like your stone age ancestors and preagricultural
people.
You can get some sample recipes at the The Garden of Eating website.
